Tenwek Hospital has been in existence since 1937 and is a Medical Ministry of the Africa Gospel Church in partnership with World Gospel Mission.

We are a Teaching and Referral Hospital located in Bomet County but serving the vast South West Region of Kenya including but not limited to Narok, Kisii, Kericho and Kisumu Counties. We are also a key referral center for many health facilities in Kenya. Role Summary: Reporting to the Head of Clinical Services, the Consultant-Obstetrics & Gynaecology job exists to provide specialized obstetrics and gynaecological services, coordinates obstetrics and gynaecological research and training at Tenwek Hospital.

The right candidate will be required to:

  • Assist in the implementation of the hospital’s strategic plan in the obstetrics and gynaecology unit within the framework of the vision, mission and culture of the hospital and other national and international healthcare frameworks.
  • Assist in the coordination and provision of specialized obstetrics and gynaecological services and services delivery in the obstetrics and gynaecology unit of the hospital ensuring that they meet the expected standards and compliance.
  • Assist in coordinating obstetrics and gynaecological referral services within and without the hospital according to the obstetrics and gynaecological services needs in collaboration with other hospital sections and units and within the framework of the hospital and national referral policies.
  • Assist in the supervision obstetrics and gynaecology staff together with their services, in obstetrics and gynaecology unit of the hospital to ensure that they offer timely services within the expected standards, complying with the established ethics and regulations.
  • Assist in the coordination of continuous training and development of obstetrics and gynaecology staff for their effective and efficient performance and productivity.
  • Assist in the coordination and provision of medical research and training within the obstetrics and gynaecology unit of the hospital
  • Offer specialized obstetrics and gynaecological service advice to the CEO and other sections/units and the general public in the appropriate media.
  • Work with other medical specialists to solve single or multiple medical issue(s)or perform extensive surgery, when required in the hospital.
  • Monitor and evaluate progress and achievement of the obstetrics and gynaecology unit’s clinical referral, research and training programmes and prepare and disseminate periodic reports appropriately.

Academic Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from a recognized institution
  2. Master of Medicine in Obstetrics and Gynaecology from a recognized institution

Professional Qualifications:

  1. Registration with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council
  2. Valid Practice License.

Role Summary: Reporting to the Head of Surgical Services, the Consultant -Orthopaedic job exists to coordinate and provide Orthopaedic services, coordinate Orthopaedic surgery research and training at Tenwek Hospital.

The right candidate will be required to:

  • Assist in the planning for all orthopaedic surgery services and resources required in the orthopedic surgery unit of the hospital; and participate in and contribute to the overall strategic planning of the hospital.
  • Assist in coordinating the implementation of the hospital strategic plan in the orthopedic surgery unit within its vision, mission and culture and other national and international healthcare frameworks.
  • Offer advice to ensure that orthopedic surgery unit of the hospital has all the required human and non-human resources required to offer orthopedic surgical services, research and training in the hospital.
  • Assist in coordination and provision of orthopedic surgical services and services delivery in the orthopedic surgery unit of the hospital ensuring that they meet the expected standards and compliance in the hospital.
  • Assist in coordination of orthopedic surgery referral services within and without the hospital according to the orthopedic surgery services needs in collaboration with other hospital sections and units and within the framework of the hospital and national referral policies.

Role Summary: Reporting to the Head of Diagnostic & Ancillary Services, the coordinate and provide specialized radiology an imaging services, coordinate radiology and imaging services research and training at Tenwek Hospital.

The right candidate will be required to:

  • Directs and coordinates activities of the diagnostic imaging department.
  • Reviews work schedules and assigns duties to workers within the department to maintain patient floe and achieve productivity.
  • Oversees staff in operation of medical equipment
  • Evaluates accuracy and quality of images and provides technical assistant to staff.
  • Implements and monitors radiation safety measures to ensure safety of patients and staff and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Provide input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility
  • Develops and implements plans, policies and procedures regarding staffing, operations and purchase of radiological/ diagnostic and interventional supplies.
  • Plan for all diagnostic imaging services and resources in the radiology department of the hospital in collaboration with Radiology Department of various learning institutions
  • Participate in and contribute to the overall strategic planning of the hospital.
  • Coordinate  and  ensure  implementation  of  the  hospital  strategic  plan  in  the
  • imaging/radiology department within the framework of the vision, mission and culture/philosophy of the hospital and other national and international healthcare frameworks.
  • Chair radiology department referral, research and training matters in the hospital and act as its contact person.
  • Ensure that radiology department of the hospital has all the required human and non-human resources required to offer radiology services, research and training in the hospital.
  • Participate in the recruitment, evaluation, employee relations action and processes of radiology staff in the hospital.
  • Coordinate and ensure uninterrupted provision of imaging and interventional services in the radiology department of the hospital ensuring that they meet the prescribed quality and procedural standards.
  • Coordinate and manage radiological referral services within and out of the hospital according to the imaging needs and in collaboration with other hospital sections and departments and within the framework of the hospital and national referral policies.
  • Supervise radiology staff together with their services, in the radiology department of the hospital to ensure that they offer timely radiology services within the expected standards of quantity complying with the established ethics and regulations.
  • Ensure and coordinate continuous professional education and development within the department for effective and efficient performance and productivity.
  • Coordinate and provide radiological research and training within the hospital.
  • Provide the hospital executive and management with relevant radiological andimaging counsel and advice in the field of imaging.
  • Cooperate with other clinical disciplines in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Prepare tools and regularly perform periodic monitoring and evaluation within the imaging department.
  • Spearhead research, source for opportunities and collaborations with relevant bodies, organizations and institutions.

Academic Qualifications:

Role Summary: Reporting to the Head of Department, the Teaching Instructor will be tasked to train Clinical Officers to be physically, spiritually, professionally and personally the best they can to the glory of God

The right candidate will be required to:

  • To teach assigned subjects according to the curriculum of the Clinical Officers Council To teach theory in each block/trimester as assigned by the Head of Department
  • Prepare all exams for subjects taught in each Block/Trimester and submit to Principal/HOD prior to giving the exam
  • Evaluate students after each block/trimester using the Behavioral Theoretical Assessment Form Assist students working in the wards to be successful in completing assigned criteria during each placement
  • To maintain professional development.
  • Provide spiritual help for students through discipleship groups, devotions and individual counseling as needed

Qualifications and Experience

  1. BSc. Clinical Medicine.
  2. Have valid practicing license from the relevant regulatory body
  3. 2 years teaching experience 5 years clinical Experience

Role Summary: Reporting to the Head of Rehabilitative Services, the Occupational Therapist job exists to provide patient satisfaction through delivery of efficient and effective occupational therapy services at Tenwek Hospital.

The right candidate will be required to:

  • Review patient medical history, evaluate the condition and needs by observing patients doing a task,
  • Develop a treatment plan for patient, laying out the types of activities and specific goals to be accomplished
  • To treat disabled, ill or injured patients with equipment and therapeutic used of daily activities,
  • To help patients to improve, regain and develop the skills needed for day to day life and work
  • To provide long term patient care and acute patient
  • To complete and maintain necessary records for the patients
  • Liaising with other healthcare professionals to exchange information about the background and progress of patients, as well as to refer patients who require other medical attention;
  • Sensitizing the community on existing and emerging Occupational Therapy
  • Implementing and monitoring outpatient and inpatient Occupational Therapy programmes.

Professional Qualifications:

Role Summary: Reporting to the Head of Rehabilitative Services, the Plaster & Trauma Technologist job exists to provide of care to patients with orthopaedic conditions

The right candidate will be required to:

  • Interpreting radiological images of orthopedic and trauma cases
  • Carry out minor orthopedic operative techniques involving insertion and removal of Steinman’s Pins and skull calipers
  • Removing external fixators
  • Manipulating and reducing fractures and dislocation
  • Fixing and removing casts, bandages and tractions to and from patients
  • Correcting congenital orthopedic Talipes Equino-Varus(C.T.E.V)
  • Assessing and referring patients with musculoskeletal
  • Participating in the management of minor orthopedic and trauma cases in emergencies and accidents
  • Sensitizing and creating awareness on orthopedic trauma conditions to the communities;
  • Counselling patients/clients on issues regarding orthopedic
  • Proper documentation of patient information and procedures conducted

Academic Qualifications:

  1. Diploma in either orthopedic plaster and traction technology or orthopaedic plaster technology from a recognized institution
  2. Certificate in non -operative management of fractures and Talipes Equino Varus (CTEV) course lasting not less than two weeks from recognized institution

Professional Qualifications:

  1. Membership Certificate of the Kenya Occupational Therapists Association
  2. Valid Practice License.

Role Summary: Reporting to the Senior Radiographer, the Sonographer job exists to perform quality ultrasound examinations to clients and patients and make quality reports for use by the clinicians in decision making. In the course of their duties they shall provide care and maintenance to ultrasound machines at Tenwek Hospital.

The right candidate will be required to:

  • Collaborate with other radiography and imaging staff in providing diagnostic imaging services to patients in the hospital.
  • Receive patients referred for ultrasound services from other medical units and schedule their imaging services in the radiographer unit of the
  • Explain ultrasound procedure to patients and answering any questions they may have concerning the same services in the
  • Perform ultrasound examinations on clients/ patients referred to the
  • Maintain the ultrasound machines and equipment for continuous provision of ultrasound services within the
  • Ensure cleanliness and orderliness in the ultrasonography unit for quality services delivery in the
  • Record and maintain patient’s records and adding medical notes related to the ultrasound procedure if necessary in the

Academic Qualifications:

  1. a) Diploma in Ultrasound, Medical Imaging Sciences or Radiography from a recognized institution
